The Knife concert

I have been waiting exactly four months for this concert, and it was worth every minute! I remember buying the ticket on January 16, two days before I got back to NY. I was sad to leave Israel, but oh, there was a huge smile on my face then! This is a band I had gotten to love so much ever since I heard "Heartbeats". That song, that voice, that beat... I immediately sent it to a music fanatic friend of mine, saying: You have to listen to this! The show began two hours after I went inside the place. I admit, I was starting to lose my patience, so in the meantime I toyed with my Shazam, discovering new music. Once they went on, a magnificent group of ten, it was magical. I kept looking for the lead singer, Karin Dreijer Andersson, whom I adore also from her solo project, Fever Ray. She was so bizarre and great, wearing that heavy make up around her eyes, making her look like a mythical creature. My criticizing self never rests, and I caught her making tiny mistakes here and there with my all seeing eyes. Then she started singing with that shrieking witch voice. Hmm... It's alright, I forgive her. Drums, synthesizer, and an ultra purple light... overwhelming. Everyone was shouting the words and dancing in their tiny spaces and me raising my hands and woowing every chance I get. I kept looking behind me to see all those faces cheering, happy. It was so enjoyable I felt like going again the next day. The Knife finished the concert shouting: WE LOVE YOU, NEW YORK. SEE YOU IN SEVEN YEARS. Oh, yeah! I'll defiantly see you then!

Blue Jasmine
2013, Comedy- Drama, 98 min'

I'd like to share with you the experience that I had watching Blue Jasmine a few days ago. It's the new Woody Ellen, which I love! It tells about Jasmine (Cate Blanchett), an attractive and wealthy looking woman in her late 40's, who has to move in with her sister due to unfortunate incidents. The apartment is smaller, and the style is very different from what Jasmine's used to in her prior life.  She and her sister seem to be very different in all ways possible. Ginger is more of a simple and free spirited individual. She always has a man in her life and seems happy and settled in her simplicity. The actress who plays her, Sally Hawkins, I love ever since I saw Happy Go Lucky for the first time. She was happy then too.
Without spoiling to much of what happens next, I'll try and say that. I had learnt a lot from watching it. It took a little time of digesting, though. Jasmine was supposedly living the life I thought I had wanted when all of a sudden it changed. No warning signs, but merely a glass of Vodka to soothe the pain. Talking to one's self might help. Not in public. Ok, I'm thinking I  would do quite well with that simple happiness without chasing illusions. I was stressed, humored and very sympathetic during the movie. I wanted to give her a hug and slap her in the face. At some point I wanted to snap! in a good way...  I enjoyed watching it and Ms. Blanchett is an absolute inspiration to me. Woody's neurotic sense of humor also pops out elegantly from time to time. My ranking? two thumbs up!

Dragon Tattoo Trilogy
2010, Thriller, 6 episodes

After shamelessly ignoring it for so long, I finally decided to watch this clever trilogy on Netflix. The Dragon Tattoo Trilogy. The Swedish version. Lisbeth Salander did not come across as a character I would relate to at first, but as I kept watching I was mesmerized by her more and more. That spiked serious and strong computer hacker made me proud I was a female! Her brilliant fingers clicking deeper into people's lives. It's really fascinating. I was unintentionally imagining I was her. Six episodes of good fulfilling thriller injected straight to my soul and it's just what I needed. The ironic thing is that my aunt, who came to visit me in New York a month ago, mentioned that trilogy to me, that it's good and I'd love it. I loudly declared it wasn't my thing. That I had quit enough with those tough cool chicks acting like they don't give a shit about anything. Boy, was I proven wrong! Au contraire! This is a story about a girl who struggled ever since she was little and became what she's become 'cause of upper ranked corruption and violation. Tonight I finished watching the last episode. A little sad it's over. Good thing I still have some nails left on my fingers.

Lost In Translation
2003, Drama, 101 min'
Sofia Coppola
Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Giovanni Ribisi

“More than this you know there’s nothing, more than this tell me one thing…” (Roxy Music)
I was having the warmest loving dream last night after watching this film. I woke up in love. It was about you. I slept in your arms and at times took a peek to see if you are still there. You looked at me with those beautiful almond brown eyes of yours as I was falling back in a deep sleep. I felt so wanted and loved. My eyes were closing and the sun was gently caressing my face. I was smiling. I’m writing this as my heart is racing. I'm thinking about you. Do you remember the part when Charlotte and Bob are going back to the hotel after their first night out together? He carries her in his arms as he opens the door to her room and puts her to bed. She gives a gentle smile and goes back to sleep. I thought about the two of us in that hotel room. You and me no one else in New York City and lost in translation.  How wonderful would that be...
